My Step-Daughter Pursues International Development Work

My step-daughter Denise has watched with interest and yearning as her mother and I, her brother, and her step-brother have journeyed off to far away lands to all four corners of the globe. It is now her turn. She wishes to participate in community development work in Uganda this coming summer.

Consider helping her out with a monetary donation. You can do so at https://www.youcaring.com/manage-fundraiser.aspx?frid=303561. If you can't, consider giving her your thoughts and prayers as she pursues this dream.

A full description and fundraising campaign is as follows:

Hello Everyone!
Thank you so very much for stopping by my website to check out my campaign: Live to Empower. For those of you who may not know me, my name is Denise, and I am a 25 year old currently employed and fulfilling my life dream of living in the beautiful state of Colorado. My daily work consists of processing data to support wireless carriers so that their customers are always able to get the quickest and closest emergency response should they dial 9-1-1. It sounds a little crazy, and it can be, but I love knowing that what I do indirectly helps to save lives. Aside from work, I spend almost all of my time with my family and friends who reside near me in Colorado. I have been blessed with some of the best relatives, friends, and co-workers.

My parents (Dad and Jayne, Mom and Mark) have always supported me along the way to any goal I set for myself. I feel incredibly lucky to have four VERY different role models in all of them. I have grown into a completely different person than I ever could have imagined because of their influences and their guidance. I have five amazing siblings who live in five different states (I miss them all dearly). Although we live far from one another, they ALL still manage to inspire me regularly with their own goals and accomplishments. I am also lucky enough to live close to my best friend and cousin, Alaina, who keeps me grounded and is always up for an adventure in the gorgeous landscape around us for hiking and volunteer activities.
 THE GOAL OF MY MISSION:
Now that you know a little more about me, I am sure you would like to know what this mission is all about.  I have this desire to see the world; even greater, I have a desire to help and support those around the world who truly are in need of assistance. Going abroad to work with and serve those in need has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I truly believe there is no better way to learn about yourself and grow within yourself than through witnessing the experiences of people whose lives differ greatly from your own. I am SO EXCITED to announce that I have recently been accepted by an organization called, Come, Let’s Dance.  I will be joining them for their Summer Immersion Program in Kampala, Uganda, July 14th-30th. (There really isn’t an adequate adjective to express my excitement about being a part of this group).
Come, Let's Dance (CLD) is a 501(c)3 non-profit that has been working on community development in and around Kampala, Uganda since 2006. Since its beginning, CLD has worked on empowering the leaders of tomorrow and building relationships as they believe this strategy is the only way to make a lasting impression for their vision, which is accomplished through The Seven Steps of Restoration. The Seven Steps of Restoration focus on food, health, education, safe housing, family-empowerment, and a few other key points (http://www.comeletsdance.org/uganda-overview/). Together, these seven steps work toward achieving a long-lasting and sustainable environment for those living in the community.
For two weeks, I will be tackling this journey with a dear friend of mine, Morgan Fightmaster. We will be working alongside a number of other volunteers helping out with whatever needs to be done. We will indulge ourselves in the efforts to help out with CLD projects.  These projects could include working on the farms, helping out in the classrooms, or spending time in the slums and orphanages while reaching out to empower those who could someday become leaders and help carry out the vision CLD hopes lives on “beyond ourselves”. This will be a life-changing opportunity for all involved. Morgan and I are so thrilled to have been accepted into this program providing us with an opportunity to be a part of making a small change for the greater good of the people in Uganda.
WE HOPE YOU CAN HELP AND HOW YOU CAN HELP:
After hearing about this amazing opportunity, I sincerely hope you feel inspired by my dream journey and what I will be doing in Uganda to help. To no surprise, a trip of this nature is quite costly. In order for this trip to be financially possible, I need to raise $4,000 by June 12, 2015. If you are able to financially support me, CLD, or the people in Uganda in any way possible, I assure you there will never be an ample way for me to express my gratitude. Your donations will cover the costs of airfare, travel insurance, housing, food, immunizations/malaria medication, as well as Growth and Sustainability (G.A.S.). This money makes it possible for each of the CLD projects to continue to flourish and be beneficial for all involved. You can donate here or send me a personal check at:

Hopefully, if I am able to raise more than my goal of $4,000 through your financial donations, I will donate the extra money pledged to Come, Let’s Dance. Please feel no obligation to meet this request. There are other ways we can be supported including your prayers and thoughts for CLD, Morgan, and myself as we embark on this mission. Our goals are to be prepared for anything, to have patience, and to open our hearts, as well as have a safe journey where we will meet other eager volunteers to be our partners in assisting the people of Uganda in some small way.
GRATITUDE:
Regardless of how you choose to help, thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and consider my campaign. If you feel so inclined, please share this with your friends and family.  All support is welcome and greatly appreciated!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Sincerely,

Denise
